Between the magnificent weather, outstanding horses and regular trips to the cashier’s line, this has been a banner Keeneland meeting. With several contentious races carded this afternoon, there could be some big money to be made in the exotics if we can ferret out the right price horses.
2nd) HALFWAY HOUSE drops from a “key” maiden special weight race into a maiden claimer after showing decent speed versus the tougher field. The son of Offlee Wild, from the barn of sharp trainer Darrin Miller, looks like he could be the controlling speed here.
3rd) TODD THE DESTROYER drops back in distance, takes a dip in class, adds blinkers and the leading rider Julien Leparoux. Looks like trainer Eddie Kenneally is pulling out all the stops.
8th) Winner of the Kentucky Turf Cup (G3) at Kentucky Downs in his last start, REZIF enters this year’s Sycamore (G3) in much better form than he did last year. The son of Distant View is a marathon specialist who has enjoyed a productive summer. Jockey Greta Kuntzweiler is riding well and seems to fit the old campaigner well. The 12-1 morning line is enticing as well.
