Keeneland Handicapping Challenge

On Saturday, December 1, Keeneland will host the “Keeneland Handicapping Challenge” – a qualifying contest for the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship.

Contestants at Keeneland’s qualifier will compete for more than $40,000 in cash prizes and one of three spots on the Keeneland team at the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas in January 2008. The total purse for the 2008 NHC event in Las Vegas has been increased to an estimated $1 million.

The DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship (NHC) features a series of handicapping contests for horse racing fans in local markets.

Top finishers from each qualifying contest form the team representing their racetrack at the National Handicapping Championship scheduled for January 25-26, 2008 in Las Vegas.

Keeneland’s qualifying contest scheduled for Saturday, December 1, 2007

Contest held in the Phoenix, Lexington/Kentucky and Lafayette Rooms in the Keeneland Grandstand.

Entry Information:

Contestants must be at least 21 years old.

Entry fee – $150 per person with a maximum of three (3) entries.

Advance registration accepted at the information window through Sunday, November 25 or mailed and postmarked by that day may pay a discounted rate of $135.

Limit of 500 total entries.

Mail-in entries must be received by Wednesday, November 28, accompanied by a check or money order for entry fee(s).

Walk-in entries accepted through 3:00 p.m. (EDT), Friday, November 30, at the Information Window or Keeneland’s General Offices.

On Saturday, December 1, if space is available, walk-in entries will be accepted beginning at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) at the Registration Desk outside the Phoenix Room.

Contest Format:

Contest consists of fifteen (15) different races from six racetracks simulcast at Keeneland Saturday, December 1, 2007.

Eight (8) races will be designated races. The Handicapping Challenge Director will select the eight (8) designated races.

Seven (7) races will be optional races. The contestant will select the seven (7) optional races from contest-eligible tracks being simulcast at Keeneland that day.

Contestants will be limited to one mythical $2 win wager and one mythical $2 place wager in each contest race. Both wagers must be on the same horse.

Prizes:

More than $40,000 in cash prizes, based on 400 entries (prize monies adjusted according to actual number of entries).

Top three finishers represent Keeneland at the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship, scheduled for January 25-26, 2008 in Las Vegas.

Total purse money for the 2008 National Handicapping Championship estimated at $1 million.
