Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay Hopes His Grace and Power Grills the Hollywood Starlet Field

In Chicago, they call it, “a wintry mix.” That’s the weather horseplayers will face this afternoon as even sunny Florida is expecting rain. Keep an eye on the track conditions and remember that late weather scratches can affect the odds dramatically.

CALDER’s 8TH RACE is the La Prevoyante (G2). Not only is DALVINA the class of the field but she can handle a little give in the ground. With inclement forecast for the Miami area, the Graham Motion trainee looks tough to bet against.

Purchased for a mere $7,000 at the 2001 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, PARADISE DANCER has banked $469,910 while winning 10 races and finishing in the top three 30 times in his 39-race career. He has never been off the board on an off track or at today’s distance of seven furlongs. Expect more of the same in the Kenny Noe, Jr. (G3), CALDER’s 9TH RACE.

ELECTRIFY is really bred to be a sprinter but he handles a mile and one-eighth with aplomb. The son of Delaware Township has been in sharp form all summer and fall. He looks primed for another stakes victory in CALDER’s 10TH RACE, the Fred Hooper (G3). Jockey Elvis Trujillo should have him sitting just behind the leaders early on and he should get first run on the closers.

Jockey Larry Melancon leaves the sofa and fireplace and puts on a turtleneck and mud pants to pilot SLEW”S TIZZY in the Prairie Bayou Stakes, TURFWAY PARK’s 11TH RACE. Winner of the Coolmore Lexington (G2) and Lone Star Derby (G3) earlier this year, the son of Tiznow seems to be rounding to form and faces a field not nearly as accomplished.

The Hollywood Starlet (G1) is HOLLYWOOD PARK’s 8TH RACE. Celebrity chef Bobby Flay might be cooking up an upset in Inglewood this afternoon. His GRACE AND POWER has been racing with tremendous success on the turf. The daughter of More Than Ready will give the cushion track a try here, but if she transfers her form to the new surface the rest of the field might be eating leftovers.
