NOTES ON MY MAKER’S 46 MILE (G1) KEENELAND PROGRAM
April 12th, 2013By Jude T. Feld

2ND RACE) Equibase handicapper Ellis Starr has an angle that he likes to play – Male first-time starters, running in maiden allowance races, who are five years-old or older, who have not been gelded. #6 MISTER LUCKY CAT fits the bill. He was a $650,000 Saratoga yearling that makes his racing debut for Hall of Fame trainer Billy Mott this afternoon. If you are looking for an exacta play, #7 PLAY BULL outworked stakes horse Noble Tune on March 31 at Keeneland.
3RD RACE) Starter horses win starter races. #1 SAILOR’S PASTTIIME won a similar race at the Keeneland fall meeting. She prepped for this one in a conditioned allowance race at Laurel Park and should be ready for a top effort this afternoon.
4TH RACE) #5 REMEMBER THEN was impressive breaking her maiden at Keeneland in the fall. She has been on my personal “Horses to Watch†list since. #1 ALYDORABLE is improving and has shown she can handle polytrack.
6TH RACE) Trainer Tom Proctor is not noted for first-time starter winners. His percentages go way up second time out. #8 BIORHYTHM worked sensationally from the gate at Keeneland on April 7 and gets Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens today.
7TH RACE) Gainesway Farm’s #1 FLORES ISLAND ticks all the boxes here. She also had a nice breeze at Keeneland on April 6. Hall of Fame trainer Billy Mott again.
8TH RACE) #5 WISE DAN is the reigning Horse of the Year. #4 DATA LINK worked a half in :48 1/5 on the Keeneland green while running the last quarter in :22 flat. What else do you need to know?
10TH RACE) In a race that lacks any stars, #6 GOT NO ANSWERS owns really good recent form.
